TALIA

Background

  • TALIA is a National Non Governmental Organization established in Tanzania in 2006. This organization is in collaboration with Community Based Organizations, Faith Based Organizations, Non Governmental Organizations, the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare and actors at the community level committed to the effective coordination that maximizes the impact of collective resources and advocated to address the challenges of poverty in Tanzania.

 Currently Talia

  • is made up of 18 members, eight female and ten male. It was established in February 2006 and officially registered on 22th August 2008 under Section 12 (12) NGOs Act No 24 of 2002 as a trust with registration number.SA16018. It is now led by a Board led by the Chairperson the Executive Director (Secretary to the Board) and seven Board Members who supports TALIA in its operations.

  • To ensure peoples’ livelihood particularly in rural areas is improved by 2025.

 Mission

  • Assist the community in managing and utilizing local resources and disseminate information and knowledge through capacity building programs, partnerships, lobbying and advocacy for sustainable environmental management, agriculture, basic education, and health.

Organization Relevant Experience,(Capacity development services provided)

  • Lobbying and Advocacythrough three Ward meetings to local government authority, regional policy makers and key stakeholders (about 60 people) in promoting gender- sensitive and HIV/AIDS integration in their planning and activities.
  • To support most vulnerable children who are not schooling to go to schoolby supporting the construction of infrastructures and expansion of Dinyecha Primary School for the disabled children in Mtwara District.Supported activities include, construction of new school dormitory, staff quarters, school classrooms, shallow- wells, toilets, and supply of furniture and water tank (Sim-Tank).

 The Community ,Talia staff, donor (Japanese embassy), government minister (Hon. Hawa Ghasia – c) and other local leaders in front of newly constructed structure and  project handover ceremony

  • Increase cash crop production; improve people’s income; enhance cooperation, and participation between and among partner groups, Civil society organization and Community members in economic and social activities in Mtwara and Lindi.
  • . Mobilized and supported skills training on how to establish community village Bank (VICOBA) in Mtwara and Masasi Districts.
  • Facilitate environmental education community groups, NGOs and other civil society organizations.

 We have train 80 peer educators  and HBC about how to support people living with HIV/AIDS and Reproductive helth  inNewala ,Tandahimba Masisi,and  Mtwara  the  project funded by  GIZ with  euro 6000

Community mobilizes   on HIV Testing

  • Economic and Social empowerment support to(60 Goats) Orphans and their Guardians in Mtwara District
  • TALIA From 2008 to 2010 TALIA has supported 21 disadvantaged women to establish income generating projects in Mtwara District at Mahurunga and Dihimba Wards.
